Performing at the Paramount Theater in Denver last night, country singer Loretta Lynn was named to Colorado’s Country Music Hall of Fame.
Gov. Bill Ritter presented the plaque honoring Lynn.
Lynn has had sixteen number one country hits, including “Coal Miner’s Daughter.”
Since 1998, stars such as Doug Kershaw, Charley Pride, Michael Martin Murphy, Johnny Paycheck and John Denver have been inducted into the hall.
In a press release from the Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame, officials cited Lynn’s four-decade career and her impact in shaping the sound of female country music.
The hall is “dedicated to recognize and honor individuals, living or deceased, by induction into the Hall of Fame, who have contributed to the advancement of country music in Colorado.”
