DENVER—Colorado lawmakers are planning to convene a task force to find ways to recycle electronics.
Rep. Randy Fischer, D-Fort Collins, says TVs, stereos and computers could be the foundation for an e-waste recycling industry.
Fischer says in Colorado, the vast majority of consumer electronics including cathode ray tubes, circuit boards, and toxins end up in our landfills. He says that puts substantial amounts of heavy metal pollution into our air and water and it wastes valuable resources that could be easily recovered and re-used.
Fischer is convening an interim legislative committee on Thursday to begin to tackle the problem.
