Pick of the crop.
It’s cherry-pickin’ time in Colorado, and the U-pick farms are ready for customers. Expect to pay from $1.50 to $1.75 a pound for Bing, Rainer and other varieties. Advice from Orchard Valley Farms grower Kathy Leland: Choose ripe cherries with flexible green stems. Dark and brittle stems denote older fruit. Freeze whole, or dry.
