DENVER—The Denver airport says it had 5.8 percent fewer passengers in May than in the same month last year.
Denver International Airport reported Wednesday that about 4.2 million passengers used the facility in May, down from about 4.5 million the year before.
Airport officials say the recession and airline cutbacks are responsible for the drop.
More than 19.6 million passengers used the city-owned airport in the first five months of the year, down 5.3 percent from the 20.7 million in the same period a year before.
