DENVER—Fort Morgan Muncipal Judge Charles Michael Hobbs has been appointed a district judge for Colorado’s 13th District in northeast Colorado.

Gov. Bill Ritter announced the appointment Thursday.

Hobbs replaces J. Curt Perry, who will retire on Aug. 7.

Hobbs will serve a provisional two-year term and then must stand for a retention election if he wants to remain in the post.

The job pays $128,600 a year.

The 13th District includes Kit Carson, Logan, Morgan, Phillips, Sedgwick, Washington and Yuma counties.
