BRECKENRIDGE, Colo.—The Breckenridge Town Council has approved more than $1 million in cuts to recreation, replanting and other programs to help close a shortfall that could reach $3 million.
The cuts approved this week don’t require any layoffs, but officials say some jobs will be eliminated through attrition.
Cuts to the recreation budget total $350,000 and include eliminating some outdoor education programs and cutting all recreation facility hours.
Other cuts include $200,000 in a replanting program and more than $146,000 in public works.
Officials of the mountain resort town estimate they have cut a total of $2.7 million over the past several months.
