MONTROSE, Colo.—Funeral services are being held today for a Montrose police officer shot to death during a domestic disturbance call.

Sgt. David Kinterknecht (KIN’-ter-nekt) died Saturday night. Two other officers were also wounded when police say 52-year-old Dennis E. Gurney opened fire on them after barricading himself in a garage behind a home.

Wounded in the shooting were officers Rodney Ragsdale and Larry Witte (WIT’-ee). Authorities say Gurney fatally shot himself.

Kinterknecht was a 10-year veteran of the department.

Kinterknecht’s funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. at the Montrose High School gym. A live video feed will be provided in an overflow seating area at the high school. Gov. Bill Ritter and other officials are scheduled to speak.
