BOULDER, Colo.—Attorneys say they’re working on a plea deal in a bond-violation case against a Colorado man convicted of child abuse in the death of his infant son.
Alex Midyette is serving a 16-year sentence in the 2006 death of 11-week-old Jason Midyette. After his conviction, he was arrested on a charge of violating the terms of his bond, which required him to stay away from most children.
Defense attorney Paul McCormick and prosecutor Ken Kupfner told a Boulder judge Wednesday they’re working on a plea deal.
A bond-violation conviction carries a prison sentence of 12 to 18 months.
Jason Midyette suffered broken bones and a skull fracture. Molly Midyette, his mother, was convicted of child abuse for failing to get medical attention. She’s serving a 16-year sentence.
