A Chaffee County mobile- home park was evacuated for several hours before dawn Sunday as a bomb squad searched a resident’s trailer.

The man’s name was not immediately available from the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office and the Colorado State Patrol, which investigated.

No bombs were found, and residents were allowed back home just after daylight.

The case began with a traffic stop southwest of Buena Vista just before 10 p.m. Saturday.

The stop yielded drugs, but as a state trooper searched the vehicle, he found a pipe bomb, said Trooper Ryan Sullivan of the Colorado State Patrol.

The case is still being investigated, but Sullivan said the man will be charged with the traffic offense and possession of drugs and explosives.

A sheriff’s spokesman said the agency would not be releasing any information about the case on Sunday.
