RIVER FALLS, WIS. — The Kansas City Chiefs have signed veteran Amani Toomer to a one-year deal, adding experience to a young receiving corps.
Toomer, wearing a No. 13 jersey, joined the Chiefs for practice this afternoon, a day after working out for the coaches.
Toomer spent his first 13 seasons with the New York Giants, catching 668 passes for 9,497 yards and 54 touchdowns. The 34-year-old had 48 catches for 580 yards and four TDs last season.
Toomer should give new Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassel another quality target and provide leadership to a group of young receivers who don’t have much experience.
