The body of a 19-year-old from man from the metro region was pulled from St. Mary’s Lake in Idaho Springs this afternoon after he went under the water Saturday evening, the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s office said today.
Sean Anderson, whose hometown was not immediately available this afternoon, was pulled from the lake at the foot of St. Mary’s Glacier around 1 p.m.
Another 19-year-old was nearly drowned as he tried to rescue Anderson, authorities said. He was airlifted to a hospital about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
His name was not released.
Dive crews and other rescuers searched until 10:30 p.m. Saturday and resumed the effort this morning, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
