GOLDEN, Colo.—Authorities say a band of baby food thieves shoplifted more than $20,000 worth of formula to sell at a discount on the Internet, including eBay.
Jefferson County District Attorney Scott Storey Friday says nine people were indicted for racketeering. DA spokeswoman Pam Russell says group members would walk into a grocery store or discount store, load a shopping cart with baby formula, cover it up with other merchandise, then walk out without paying.
Forty-five-year-old Tam Huyn and 38-year-old Thuy Nguyen are accused of distributing and selling the stolen formula. The others are accused of stealing the formula or acting as lookouts.
The group is accused in thefts between January 2008 and this March.
