Xcel Energy said Tuesday that September natural-gas bills will be higher, mainly from an expected increase in consumption. Natural-gas prices are expected to remain relatively flat and bills lower than the same period last year.
In a proposal to the Colorado Public Utilities Commission, Xcel Energy said natural gas for residential and small- business customers would increase by about 2 percent to $0.3177 per therm from this month’s price of $0.3124 per therm.
Typical residential customers are expected to increase use by 45 percent in September, compared with August, with the typical monthly bill rising to $21.71.
