Getting your player ready...

With the most politically incorrect name of any race out there, the SkirtChaser 5k returns to Denver at 5 p.m. Saturday. Women get a head start on the men, who “chase” them three minutes later. The race starts on Steele Street between First and Second avenues, and concludes with a block party, fashion show and live music at Fillmore Plaza in Cherry Creek North. Registration ranges from $8 to $92; some packages include skirts, shorts and T-shirts from sponsor SkirtSports. First athlete to cross the finish line, male or female, wins $500. Register at until Wednesday, or through 6 p.m. Friday at Outdoor Divas, 1133 Pearl St., Boulder, and 2717 E. Third Ave., Denver. Race-day registration is an extra $10. 1-877-681-7223 (RACE);

Trak Women Series duathlon canceled

After an interview with race director Maggie Sullivan and “chief inspiration officer” Sally Edwards appeared in this section last Monday, the run-bike-run race sheduled for yesterday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City was canceled. Registration fees will be credited or refunded by mail in the next 30 days. Those who had signed up for the Denver event will receive a commemorative shirt and free entry for a 2010 Trek Women Series event. Participants can call the race series office at 877-221-9665.
