They come for the corn dogs and monster trucks, to watch the parades and admire the prize-winning pies.

People from throughout the state and region annually descend on Pueblo for the Colorado State Fair’s 11 days and nights of exhibits, contests, rodeos and entertainment.

To capture their faces on one afternoon, Denver Post photographers Reza Marvashti and John Leyba set up a backdrop in the petting-zoo tent, mounted a Nikon D3 on a tripod and asked fairgoers to strike a pose.

Folks hammed it up — and two Future Farmers of America even showed off their little hams.

“The point was to get the faces of regular people — kids, families, older couples — that ran the gamut of generations,” Marvashti said. He also created a time-lapse video of all the images taken over the six-hour shoot.
