DENVER—A Colorado man identified by law enforcement as having a possible link to al-Qaida has been asked to return for a third day of questioning by the FBI.

Najibullah Zazi (nah-jee-BOO’-lah ZAH’-zee) is expected to return to FBI headquarters in Denver on Friday.

An SUV carrying his attorney drove into a garage in the building, but it’s not clear whether Zazi was in the vehicle.

An official familiar with the investigation told The Associated Press that Zazi had contact with a known al-Qaida associate. The official spoke on condition of anonymity.

Zazi’s attorney says he has never met with al-Qaida operatives and isn’t involved in terrorism.

The FBI searched Zazi’s apartment in the Denver suburbs and three apartments in New York City where he recently stayed.
