THORNTON, Colo.—The Colorado Lottery says the winner of a $1 million Powerball prize is a woman from the Denver suburb of Thornton who is getting married in November.

Lottery officials said Tuesday that Cheryl Johnson got the news in a phone call from her fiance, whose name wasn’t released.

Johnson and her fiance have a combined seven children and eight grandchildren, and she says she plans to spend her winnings on family as well as paying off bills and buying a new vehicle.

The ticket was sold at an Arvada store, which will get a $3,000 bonus.

The drawing was Saturday. The winning numbers were 5, 24, 25, 30 and 49, and the Powerball was 23.
