A mountain lion was spotted in a residential neighborhood this morning by police officers in Colorado Springs.
Two officers spotted the big cat at about 4 a.m. near the 600 block of North Murray Boulevard, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department blotter.
The officers “saw a large mountain lion run across a shopping-center parking lot,” the blotter said.
The mountain lion then ran into the courtyard of the nearby Fireside Apartments, police said.
The Colorado Division of Wildlife was called as a precautionary measure because the cat was last seen in a highly dense residential area northwest of the Colorado Springs Municipal Airport.
When wildlife staffers arrived, the mountain lion was not found.
