RIVERTON, Wyo. — Wyoming police say an 11-year-old boy led law enforcement on a high-speed chase reaching up to 100 mph in a large sport utility vehicle.

Bureau of Indian Affairs police say the chase started about 3 a.m. Tuesday near Riverton in central Wyoming and ended about 50 miles away near Crowheart on the Wind River Reservation.

The driver then tried to flee by jumping into a lake and swimming, but he turned back to shore, where officers caught him.

The boy was taken into custody by the Wind River Police Department.
