Tens of thousands of recreational runners, walkers and breast cancer-curing fundraisers once again are expected to take part today in the Denver edition of the Susan G. Komen Foundation Race for the Cure. Last year, Denver turned out the most racers64,094 — of all participating cities, and organizers were expecting huge numbers again this year.

The 5K coed run kicks off from the Pepsi Center at 7 a.m. today, followed by a wave of 5K walkers at 8 a.m. and the mile-long Family Fun Walk at 9 a.m.

The race benefits not-for-profit organizations providing breast health and breast-cancer education, screening and treatment programs, with a focus on underserved and uninsured individuals.

Street closures

The following will be closed today from 4 a.m. to about 11 a.m.:

•Auraria Parkway from Interstate 25 to 14th Street.

•Speer Boulevard from Larimer Street to Federal Boulevard.

•29th Avenue from Zuni to Hazel Court.

•Federal from 32nd Avenue to 14th Avenue.

•Colfax from Irving Street to Kalamath.

•15th Street from Delgany Street to Market Street.

•This includes all ramps at: Colfax & Federal; Colfax & Auraria; I-25 & Colfax; I-25 & Speer
