Broncos coach Josh McDaniels is allowing his players to relish in the aftermath of Sunday’s 20-17 overtime victory against New England a little longer.
McDaniels gave the team the day off today – their first “Victory Monday” of the season despite winning their first five games. Players league-wide also have Tuesday off.
“You try to give them a little extra rest, and also a reward for playing a tough game, physical game,” McDaniels said. “Trying to give them a bone as we head into a long week.”
Players will return to the facility on Wednesday to begin preparing for next week’s Monday Night Football game at San Diego, and should expect all of the warm-fuzziness from the New England victory to be gone.
The Broncos may be 5-0, but McDaniels said today they are far from perfect.
“Believe me, I don’t know if I have enough time in the squad meeting on Wednesday to show them how many things we can do better the next time we go out,” McDaniels said. “We can coach better, we can play better, and they’ll see that on the film. I don’t have to create that, and no coach on our staff will have to create that either because you just watch the film and that’s the proof.”
