FORT COLLINS — Since Fort Collins enacted its urban poultry farming ordinance last year, 36 households have acquired licenses to have chickens in their yards.
The ordinance took effect in September 2008.
Larimer Humane Society animal control director Bill Porter says that as of Wednesday, there had been six calls concerning chickens since the ordinance took effect. Four complained of roosters crowing. Porter says the owners bought them as chicks and thought they were hens. The other two complaints were unfounded. The Associated Press
