DENVER—Colorado is about to get its first real taste of winter.
The National Weather Service says a major winter storm will move into western Colorado Tuesday evening and spread across the state.
The snow is forecast to continue falling through Thursday.
Parts of the central mountains, including Summit County, could get up to 18 inches.
The Weather Service says snow is likely after midnight along the Front Range and that the Denver area could get between 8 and 14 inches before the storm moves out. The Front Range foothills could get up to 2 feet because of easterly winds that are expected to push moisture up against those slopes.
