DENVER—Health officials say five more people have died from the flu in Colorado but the virus appears to be easing up in the Denver-Boulder area.

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment reported Wednesday that a total of 25 people have died from the flu this season, including seven children. More than 1,300 have been hospitalized.

The department says nearly all the current influenza cases in Colorado are swine flu, or H1N1. The latest statistics are for the week that ended Saturday.

Officials say monitoring by Kaiser Permanente showed a substantial decrease in flulike cases in the Denver-Boulder area last week. Kaiser Permanente has more than two dozens hospitals, clinics and other facilities in the area.
