MILAN—Italian giant slalom specialist Denise Karbon has undergone arthroscopic knee surgery and could be back ski racing in three or four weeks.
The operation took place Tuesday in Bressanone, Italy, after Karbon’s return from the United States.
Karbon injured her right knee in the first run of Saturday’s giant slalom in Aspen, Colo. She completed the race and finished ninth.
Karbon will miss the giant slalom in Sweden on Dec. 12, but hopes to return for the next race on Dec. 28 in Lienz, Austria.
Karbon opened the season with a third-place result in the giant slalom in October.
