DENVER—Federal regulators say a Weld County company has agreed to pay $16,000 to resolve allegations that it improperly discharged sediment into the Cache la Poudre River and its wetlands.
Bucklen Equipment Co. Inc. was accused of depositing dredged and fill material along 1,400 feet of the river without authorization. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Tuesday that the company agreed to the penalty and to remove any remaining gravel piles from wetlands along the river.
A phone number listed for the company rang unanswered Tuesday night.
The EPA says that if it appears after an inspection next summer that extra work such as planting vegetation is needed, the company may be told to implement a restoration plan.
