The Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and Junior Achievement recently named the 2010 inductees to the Colorado Business Hall of Fame.
The induction ceremony will be Feb. 4 at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center.
The 2010 inductees:
• Hank Bosco of Glenwood Springs. In 1956, Bosco was part of a group that purchased the Hot Springs Lodge and Pool, where he served as president for 30 years. The pool remains Glenwood’s top attraction.
• Merle Chambers, president and chief executive of Leith Ventures LLC, a private-equity investment company she started in 1997. She is the only woman to be inducted into the Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Hall of Fame and the first woman to serve on the board of trustees of the Temple Hoyne Buell Foundation. Chambers is also a founding member of the Women’s Foundation and served as its president in 1992.
• Melvin, Nathan, Jerry and Mickey Gart, the founders of Gart Bros. Sporting Goods Co. The family business was successful for decades and has become a part of Denver’s history. The Gart family has served on many local boards in the community.
• Fred Hamilton, who began his career in the oil fields of Texas and currently serves as the head of The Hamilton Cos. He has been chairman of the Denver Art Museum since 1994. The museum’s new 146,000-square-foot expansion is named after him.
• James Wallace, who also began his career in the Texas oil business. He formed BWAB Inc. in 1970 and has been honored many times for his contributions to the oil and gas industry in Colorado, including induction into the Rocky Mountain Oil & Gas Hall of Fame in 2004.
