LINCOLN, Neb.—Rifle deer hunters get one last chance to bag a doe in Nebraska with the late antlerless season, which runs Jan. 1-15.

No bucks may be harvested during this season and only legal firearms are allowed.

The January late season was started in 1989 and expanded to 15 days in 2005 to allow for the additional harvest of antlerless deer in response to an expanding deer population.

A 2009 Nebraska Habitat Stamp may be used for the January late season.

Permits may be purchased at OutdoorNebraska.org or Nebraska Game and Parks Commission permitting offices around the state. For more information, read the 2009 Nebraska Big Game Guide.
