A minor-league hockey player wanted for murder in North Carolina was captured in Colorado Springs early today after police negotiated a peaceful end to a Christmas morning standoff at a north-side hotel.
Bogdan Nikoloevich Rudenko, 32, was arrested on a fugitive from justice warrant and booked into El Paso County jail without bond, jail records show.
According to , an online sports database, Rudenko is a Russian-born hockey player who once played for the Colorado Gold Kings, a minor league team based in Colorado Springs from 1998 to 2002.
Rudenko was more recently listed as a member of the Twin-City Cyclones in Winston-Salem, N.C.
He is suspected in a Dec. 20 slaying in tiny Stallings, N.C., in eastern North Carolina. Police say a man was found fatally shot behind an auto body shop, in the only homicide of the year for the town of 12,000.
