VAIL, Colo.—Highway officials are trying to sort out what caused a nine-car pileup on Interstate 70 near Vail Saturday. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurt.

The eastbound lanes of the highway were briefly closed Saturday afternoon because of the wrecks in hevay snow.

Vail Police Officer Kevin Luse says police aren’t sure what caused the wrecks but that “we had vehicles everywhere.” Officials weren’t even sure if all nince cars were in the same wreck or separate accidents.

The highway was back open by Saturday evening.
