A man hit by an SUV in Denver yesterday was seriously injured but his wife and two children have been released from the hospital, police said.

The 29-year-old husband and father, who was not identified, suffered “serious” injuries and remains at Denver Health Medical Center today, said Sharon Avendano, a Denver Police Department spokeswoman.

The accident happened at about 4:10 p.m. Sunday as the driver of a silver SUV on West Iliff Avenue was making a right-hand turn onto South Federal Boulevard, police said.

Two boys and their mother were not seriously injured. They were treated at the hospital and released, Avendano said.

The driver, who was not identified, remained at the scene and was interviewed by police. He could possibly be cited for “failing to exercise due care to pedestrians,” Avendano said.

Police traffic investigators could present their findings to the Denver District Attorney’s Office today or tomorrow, Avendano said.

The DA’s office would then decide whether to file the traffic violation.
