BROOMFIELD, Colo.—Authorities say an electrical worker using a truck’s aerial bucket lift to work on an overhead power line in Broomfield was killed and his co-worker was injured when the bucket gave out.

The Adams County Coroner’s Office identified the man who died as 53-year-old Ross K. Thompson of Lakewood.

North Metro Fire Rescue says he was thrown from the bucket Friday morning, struck the truck and died at the scene. His co-worker was taken to a hospital but was expected to survive.

Both worked for Sturgeon Electric Co. Inc. The company says Thompson was a foreman.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was investigating.
