An Aurora man has been indicted for illegally dumping gasoline on land owned by Union Pacific Railroad.
A statewide grand jury indicted Steven James Yedo, 45, for dumping the gas on the land in Commerce City several times during one week in October.
Yedo was a driver for a petroleum company in Greeley, according to the indictment, and hauled petroleum products from his employer’s refinery to consumers.
Mike Saccone, spokesman for Colorado Attorney General John Suthers, would not say what company Yedo worked for or whether the company was complicit.
Yedo faces the charges of criminal mischief of $20,000 or more, a class-three felony; causing or contributing to a hazardous incident, a class-four felony; and violating the Colorado Hazardous Waste Act, an unclassified felony.
He is suspected of causing more than $60,000 worth of environmental damage.
