BOULDER, Colo.—Boulder prosecutors say a school bus driver charged with crashing into a brick retaining wall and swerving into a house’s yard did not have drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of the accident.

The Boulder District Attorney’s office said Tuesday that 62-year-old Robert Lecy (LESS-ee) will no longer face a charge of driving under the influence of drugs. He still faces a careless driving charge.

Police say Lecy was taking 17 students to Boulder High School Nov. 30 when he went off the road. Nobody was hurt.

Police say Lecy told officers he had taken the sleep aid Ambien the night before the accident.

Lecy is expected to enter a plea in the case Jan. 26.
