LINCOLN, Neb.—Nebraska football radio broadcasts will no longer include longtime color commentator Adrian Fiala.
Husker Sports Network vice president and general manager Dave Witty said Monday that the decision to remove Fiala is not based on Fiala’s performance. Fiala also will have no role on pregame and postgame shows.
Greg Sharpe will continue doing play-by-play and Matt Davison will be the only color commentator.
There have been three announcers in the broadcast booth the past three seasons. Witty said clock rules that speed up the game, along with fast-paced offenses, make it difficult to smoothly mix three voices between plays.
Fiala played linebacker for Nebraska in the 1960s and has been on the broadcast team since 1996.
Fiala did not return phone or e-mail messages from The Associated Press.
