Four people in a school bus were taken to a local hospital, treated and released, after a two-vehicle accident in Aurora.
A car and a Cherry Creek School District bus collided at about 11:15 in the intersection of South Tower Road and East Amherst Avenue, according to the Aurora Fire Department.
The bus was a “special needs” bus on its way to Timberline elementary School, said Tustin Amole, a Cherry Creek School District spokeswoman.
Two students on the bus, a students’ aide and the bus driver were taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, treated for “bumps and bruises” and released, Amole said.
Amole said a car ran a red light at the intersection and collided with the bus.
No one in the car was injured, said Capt. Allen Robnett, a fire department spokesman.
Police investigators said the driver of a Toyota Prius, who ran a red light causing the collision, was cited. The driver of the Prius and a passenger in the car were not injured.
