FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A Colorado State parking clerk has been ordered to repay parking-ticket payments she admitted stealing to pay for rent and food.
Fifty-three-year-old Charlene Noah has been fired and convicted of embezzlement for taking some $220 from parking ticket payments left in drop boxes. Noah has been ordered to 120 hours of community service.
The thefts became known after some drivers complained their payments in drop boxes weren’t being credited.
Noah apologized in a signed statement for the thefts. She said she filed bankruptcy and needed the money to pay for rent and groceries.
