BRUSH, Colo.—Authorities are investigating whether a school teacher killed in a fatal crash was texting at the time she lost control of her truck on an icy road near Brush.
The Colorado State Patrol says speed and the road conditions may have also been contributing factors to the Thursday morning crash that killed 23-year-old Megan Schneider of Fort Morgan. A patrol spokesman says Schneider’s phone records show that she may have been texting just before the accident.
A patrol spokesman says Schneider was ejected from her truck after it rolled more than two times. She was not wearing a seat belt and was the truck’s only occupant.
Scheiner was a teacher at Thompson Primary School in Brush.
Texting while driving is illegal in Colorado.
