“The Princess and the Frog” pendants sold at Wal-Mart were recalled Friday because of high levels of the toxic metal cadmium.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission had been testing for cadmium in children’s metal jewelry for several weeks after The Associated Press reported high levels of the carcinogen in Walt Disney Co. movie-themed pendants and other children’s metal jewelry from China. Wal-Mart pulled three items on Jan. 12, including the two items recalled: a crown pendant with UPC number 72783367144 and a frog pendant, UPC number 72783367147. The Associated Press
