FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Colorado State University President Tony Frank has proposed hiring a part-time, interim vice president to increase the diversity among students on the Fort Collins campus.
Frank says there is a large gap in the number of Hispanic and white students attending college in Colorado.
A campus force recommended the cabinet-level position after last year’s retirement of the school’s director of the Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity.
Frank says the position would be funded by cuts in other administrative areas.
A campuswide search for a vice president for diversity will start soon. Blanche Hughes, vice president for student affairs, will fill the position until then.
