Nine dogs died in an early morning fire Monday at a pet-care facility in rural Jefferson County.
The fire was reported just after midnight at Pampered Pets & Doggie Dude, said Dan Hatlestad, a spokesman with Inter-Canyon Fire/Rescue.
The fire destroyed a wooden structure with a tin roof, a former home that had been converted into a dog kennel, Hatlestad said.
Eleven firetrucks and 25 firefighters fought the blaze, which was reported by a neighbor. The owner of the kennel lives nearby, Hatlestad said.
No people were injured.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
