President Barack Obama will attend three fundraising events for U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet when he comes to Colorado on Feb. 18.

The first event is a rally at the Fillmore Auditorium, where tickets range from $25 to $250. Then, Obama will appear at two receptions at the Denver Sheraton.

Obama’s visit so early in the year signals his commitment to Bennet, who was appointed to the post, reads an e-mail sent to potential donors and fundraisers.

“The president has made the Bennet campaign a real priority and is coming early in this election year to show his support,” according to the e-mail.

Bennet’s Democratic primary challenger, former House Speaker Andrew Romanoff, panned the effort.

“The president’s early visit to Colorado is a signal of panic within the Bennet campaign,” said Romanoff’s campaign manager, Bill Romjue. Lynn Bartels, The Denver Post
