Conan O’Brien is using his own severance to pay some ex-staffers who didn’t get any payout from the $7.5 million separation deal from NBC.
According to sources close to production, TMZ says Conan’s stagehands from “The Tonight Show” were not covered by the NBC severance plan.
But reportedly Conan is making up for that with his own cash — giving his 50-person crew at least six weeks severance. Conan himself reportedly received $32.5 million in severance.
Conan’s people had no comment.
The union for his former crew, IATSE Local 33, says all the members who worked with Conan are “very happy” with the way he handled the snafu, TMZ says.
Jennifer Aniston is holding her own benefit for Haiti.
A rep for Aniston confirms to UsMagazine that the actress will be hosting a benefit screening to raise money for AmeriCares and its efforts in earthquake-ravaged Haiti.
According to E! News, her screening of the Oscar-nominated film “The Last Station” takes place later this month, and will include a cocktail reception with the director following the movie.
Ticket prices for the charity event reportedly range from $100 per ticket to $50,000.
It’s not Aniston’s first foray into fundraising for Haiti. Soon after she answered phones at the all-star Hope for Haiti Now telethon Jan. 22, it was reported that she distributed $500,000 among various charities, including AmeriCares, Doctors Without Borders and Partners in Health.
Madonna is reported to have split from her ‘toy boy’ boyfriend Jesus Luz.
The Brazilian model is said to have ended the relationship with the 51-year-old Material Girl because of the 28-year age difference and their busy work schedules.
A source told the Chicago Sun-Times the split was initiated by 23-year-old Luz.
‘It was not only totally amicable, but it was Luz who initiated the split,’ the source told the paper.
Luz is also reported to have realized their lack of mutual interests did not suit a long-term relationship.
Madonna and Luz met at a photoshoot for W magazine in December 2008.
They began dating shortly after her divorce from director Guy Ritchie was finalized.
His career as a fashion model took off due thanks to his association with Madonna.
But his mother, who is 14 years younger than Madonna, reportedly did not approve of the relationship.
Madonna was said to be ‘on edge’ when she arrived in Rio De Janeiro last year for her first meeting with hairdresser Cristiane Regina da Silva.
Mother-of-four Madonna is said to have told friends they are at ‘different places’ in their lives.
‘The problem with Jesus is as simple as it is obvious,’ a friend of Madonna’s said.
A judge in Los Angeles is sending the troubled son of Ryan O’Neal and the late Farrah Fawcett back to rehab after more than a month in jail.
The judge placed Redmond O’Neal back on probation and sentenced to an intense residential rehab program during a brief hearing Thursday. The 25-year-old has been jailed since Dec. 29 for violating his probation on a previous drug conviction.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Tynan says if O’Neal succeeds at the rehab program, he will then be sent to a sober-living facility. He may eventually be granted passes to leave, but Tynan says the program will be “justifiably” severe.
O’Neal’s attorney, Richard Pintal, says his client has made considerable progress while in jail and has earned another chance at rehab.
