A caregiver at a Lakewood assisted-living facility has been arrested after a hidden camera showed a female resident in her late 80s allegedly being assaulted.
The hidden camera, known as a “Nanny-cam,” captured images of the suspect, Gabriel Paul Cabral, 41, subjecting the victim to unlawful sexual contact, according to Steve Davis, spokesman for the Lakewood Police Department.
The family installed the camera after they became suspicious that the woman was being mistreated.
After he was interviewed by detectives on Thursday, the detectives felt there was probable cause to arrest Cabral, who was booked for investigation of “crimes against an at-risk adult.”
