A 35-year-old inmate at the Weld County Jail received serious injuries to the face during a Friday assault in the jail, authorities said.
The victim was from Greeley, but his name was not released by authorities. He was taken to a local hospital and was in critical but stable condition late Sunday.
The investigation into the assault is ongoing. The victim is in custody for parole and probation violations.
A corrections officer noticed the injured inmate on Friday about 5 p.m.
