Tiger is talking, finally. And on his own terms.
Five minutes. No questions.
The moment will be tightly controlled for the pseudo-“press conference” starring Tiger Woods at 9 a.m. MST today from PGA headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.
The TV networks are treating Woods’ expected public apology like a presidential speech — some breaking into programming to broadcast live. Cable news networks CNN, MSNBC and Fox News, plus ESPN, the Golf Channel and broadcasters ABC and CBS plan to be there. will stream online.
Only a handful of invited reporters and supporters will be present. The rest will watch a video feed in the next room. Since the golfer’s admitted problem with serial adultery came to light in November, he has not appeared in public.
What we’ll listen for: Will Woods use the words “adultery” or “sexual addiction”? How about “sex rehab”?
What we’ll watch for: Will Woods’ much- betrayed wife, Elin Nordegren, be there to do the stand-by-her-man pose? Will he wear a wedding ring?
And how directly or indirectly will he imply that he’s still a fit product spokesman?
