DENVER—The process of picking a jury has begun in the case of a man accused in the slaying of Denver Broncos cornerback Darrent Williams.

Potential jurors Friday were filling out questionnaires and answering questions at the court for the trial that expected to begin next week. Willie Clark is accused of shooting Williams after he left a Denver nightclub on New Year’s Day in 2007. Clark is a suspected gang member.

Security for the trial is tight, with those attending having to undergo two security screenings.

Denver District Judge Christina Habas has banned all cameras from an entire floor at the Denver courthouse and cell phones have been banned from the court.

Opening statements could happen as early as Tuesday.
