The year’s most awaited reunion concert is coming to Denver — err, Broomfield.

Colorado-based fans planning trips to Sasquatch, Coachella or New York City to see their favorite band can hold off on buying their plane tickets. Pavement, which reunited to play a string of big-scale shows, is coming to Colorado, The Denver Post has learned.

Stephen Malkmus’ reunited indie darlings will play in September at , formerly the Odeum (and the Broomfield Event Center before that).

Pavement will play the mid-sized Broomfield arena on Sept. 9. Tickets, $30, will go on sale at 10 a.m. March 12 via tickethorse.com. The Colorado date will be the band’s only show between Kansas City and the west coast, according to Don Strasburg, the vice president and talent buyer with AEG Live Rocky Mountains who secured the show.

“Itap a true honor that Pavement chose us and our new venue to host their return to Colorado and their return as a band,” Strasburg told The Denver Post. “We don’t know how long they’re going to continue to play together, but for Colorado to have at least one opportunity to see them play is special.”

Colorado music fans should expect more of this kind of booking for the 1stBank Center, Strasburg said. The 6,500-capacity venue opens on Friday and Saturday with sold-out shows by Furthur, a band featuring Phil Lesh and Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead. The venue, also the home to the Denver Roller Dolls roller derby league, will host plenty of shows in the coming months, from a UFC bout to an evening with Muse, from a Daughtry concert to an electronic music festival.

“Our Pavement show says a lot about what we’re trying to do with the 1stBank Center,” Strasburg said.
