GREELEY, Colo.—A former volunteer firefighter who pleaded guilty to making anonymous suicidal calls to emergency crews was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay more than $11,000.
Forty-four-year-old Caryn Sodaro was also sentenced to two additional weeks in jail for her February plea of attempting to influence a public servant. She has already served 75 days in jail.
Authorities say Sodaro made 48 anonymous suicidal phone calls that sent ambulances and police scrambling to several towns in south Weld County, including Fort Lupton, Hudson, and Firestone.
The money Sodaro was ordered to pay is for the hours emergency crews spent chasing the phony calls.
Sodaro was a volunteer firefighter in Hudson.
