AVON, Colo.—Several residents in Avon have reported seeing a mountain lion or its tracks near their homes in the last week.

Buz Didier says he saw one briefly sniff around his deck around 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, and Jackie Montgomery says she spotted one about 150 feet away from her home early Wednesday.

Colorado Division of Wildlife spokesman Randy Hampton says a wildlife officer checking on residents’ reports spotted mountain lion tracks but did not see the animal.

He says wildlife officials could relocate or kill the mountain lion if it starts acting aggressively or hanging around residential areas regularly. No action is planned so far.
